November 14, 2025 God Sends a Messenger

Published November 14, 2025

“But the Lord said to me, do not say I am too young. You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you” Jeremiah 1:7 (NIV)

There are moments when God reminds us that He hears us and sees us. It may be a big, loud sign or through the quiet faith of another person He uses. When someone speaks encouragement over us, it’s often more than coincidence. God and the Holy Spirit have a beautiful way of placing His words in the mouths of ordinary people to remind us of His extraordinary love. The message might be small to some but carries the weight of His heavenly whisper. A tug for us to keep going, to rest, or to keep trusting because He is working on our behalf.

When I went through a difficult season this summer, a soft-spoken retired man came into my workplace to pick up his order. As we finished the transaction, I asked if he had any questions. His response was “No, but I do have a comment…Don’t worry about your job but have a good 4th of July with your family.” At that moment, it felt like we were the only two in the room. I looked up and asked how he knew to say that. He commented that he knew he was supposed to say something when he walked through the door. He shortly spoke about his faith and listening to that “inner” voice and obedience.

From then on, I saw him once a month for his order at pick up. He was always full of quiet faith, stories to share and wisdom. I was impressed by his listening and obedience to what he was supposed to say. A lot of people are embarrassed to respond or don’t listen at all. In my contacts, I saved his name as John, the man who listens to the Holy Spirit.

If someone takes the time to tell you what they feel God put on their heart for you, pause and receive it. It may be just what you need to hear. God still speaks and sometimes He sends a messenger right to your front counter just to remind you: “I see you. I am with you. Keep going because I am carrying you.”

Reflect: Looking back, I know God wanted me to seek peace and surrender. Because of the work He was doing then, I am in a wonderful place now. He was trying to let me know He’s got this! I can testify now that He had it, has it and will continue to have it. He is the same yesterday, today and forever.

Watch for God’s messenger, reminding you that He’s got you and will carry you through.

Pray: Lord Jesus, thank you for the messengers You send to remind us of Your love. Help me to be more like John, the man who listens to the Holy Spirit. Help me listen for Your voice, whether You are speaking to me or through me. Praise be to the 3 in 1. Amen!
