What We Believe

Our Vision

To Put God’s Grace Into Action and Shine As a Beacon of Love, Help, Healing, Hope and Joy.

  • We are called as a people to worship God the Father, Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
  • We are a biblical church and acknowledge the Bible as the primary foundation and final authority of our faith and action.
  • In continuity with Christians through the ages and the historic church, we affirm The Apostles’ Creed and The Nicene Creed as faithful declarations of biblical truth.
  • We believe in the necessity of faith in Jesus Christ as the crucified and risen Savior and Lord of all.
  • We believe God offers grace and unconditional love to all, providing forgiveness of sins through Jesus Christ and transforming our lives through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.
  • We affirm the active work of the Holy Spirit, who cleanses and heals the life of the believer, bestows gifts for ministry, empowers us in prayer, and leads us in understanding the Word of God.
  • We believe every Christian is called into an intimate relationship with God, faithful relationships with other Christians, and Christ-like service in the world.

The United Methodist Church

We Believe In

We believe there is one true and living God who is  eternal, holy, all-powerful, and ever-present.  God is the maker and preserver of all things –  both what is seen and what is not seen.

We believe Jesus is the one and only  Son of God, the  Word became flesh and the savior of ALL  humankind. He was crucified, died, was buried  and resurrected, and rose into heaven.

We believe the Holy Spirit is at work in the world  and lives of persons. Spirit transforms, empowers, and  guides believers. Through the Holy Spirit,  we experience the fruit of the Spirit and spiritual gifts.

We believe the Bible is a guideline for personal  discipleship and is viewed through the lens of  Tradition, Experience, and Reason to inform our  faith and interpret Scripture.

United Methodists believe in three stages of Grace:

Prevenient: Grace at work in our world drawing ALL to God;
Justifying: Grace that brings us into  right relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ;
Sanctifying: Grace that continues to work in us  to transform us into the image of Christ.

Guiding Scripture

“You must love the Lord your God
with all your heart, with all your being,
and with all your mind.”  -Matthew 22:37-39

This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it:

“You must love your neighbor as yourself.” (CEB)

John Wesley

United Methodists claim John Wesley as the founder  of our denomination. He reminds us that we are to:

  • Do No Harm
  • Do Good
  • Stay in love with God.
Sacraments

United Methodists observe two Sacraments:

We recognize baptism at any age,  including infant baptism and all forms therein.

Communion is an open table, available to all who love him,  and who seek to live in peace with  one another.
