When My Way Gets in God’s Way:  Learning to Yield to His Wisdom

A solution doesn’t seem to be coming. Yet maybe the solution is already here. What if God has already placed in our hands the wisdom, relationships, and resources needed to move forward—to repair what’s broken and help one another flourish for the good of all?

When God gives an assignment, He never leaves us empty-handed. Still, like Moses at the burning bush, we hesitate: “Who am I that I should do this?” (Exodus 3:11). Or, like the apostle Peter, we cling to old boundaries, insisting on our way instead of trusting that the One who calls us will show His way. (Acts 10:9–35).

We see the same pattern today, from personal hesitations to national stalemates. Progress halts when pride, fear, or the pursuit of our own ideal plan overshadows God’s greater purpose. We forget that His way is rooted in collaboration, not competition. He equips us—individually and collectively—with His wisdom to build His kingdom together, one faithful step at a time.

Here’s the grace-filled truth I discovered: God doesn’t just hand us tools to solve problems; He gives us Himself. Through the supernatural power working in us as followers of Christ – that is His Holy Spirit – He provides His wisdom, His courage, and His creativity to act, even when the path isn’t clear. And the Spirit’s light in each of us becomes brighter when joined with that of others who are walking by faith as well.

So perhaps the real question isn’t whether we have enough or know enough, but whether we’ll trust God enough. Enough to use what’s already in our hands. And to believe He’ll fill the gaps and reveal His way as we move forward in unity.

His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.  2 Peter 1:3 (NIV)

Reflect: Where might insisting on your way be standing in the way of God’s way?

Pray: Lord, teach me to yield to Your wisdom. Quiet my pride and fears so I can see the resources and people You’ve already provided. Unite our hearts and efforts, so that together we may reflect Your grace and move forward as one body in faith. Amen.
