Strength In Waiting

My First paragraph with bold text.
Day 6 Strength in Waiting
Psalm 27: 13-14 NIV "I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD". Advent is a season of waiting and holding hope close even when we cannot see its fullness. David’s words in Psalm 27 remind us that waiting is not passive. It is an act of trust. He declares with confidence that he will see the goodness of the Lord not just one day in eternity, but here and now. Faith is rooted in God’s character, not in the season of circumstance.
When David says, “Wait for the LORD,” it is not a call to passive stillness but to active expectation trusting that God’s timing is perfect. “Be strong and take heart” is an invitation to lean on God’s strength rather than our own. Often waiting tests, us, but it also builds spiritual resilience and deeper faith.
I think of my children and how they approach me with their requests. Often, I already know what they will ask, and my heart desires to give them good things. Sometimes I delight in saying yes, and other times I lovingly ask them to wait or with wisdom say no. They know my character and trust I will not forget their ask, believing I will provide what is best for them at the right time. We are God’s children in the same way. He knows our hearts, hears our prayers, and holds our hopes. Waiting is not a sign of His absence; it is a place where trust grows. Advent invites us to lean into that trust, to pray boldly, wait patiently, and rest in His goodness.
Reflect: Where might God be inviting you to wait with childlike trust this Advent season?
Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for listening to me when I pray. Help me to wait like a child who knows they are loved. Help me to trust in Your timing and Your character. Amen!
