The Prayer of Waiting Hearts

My First paragraph with bold text.

Day 2  The Prayer of Waiting Hearts

Psalm 80: 1 – 7  Shepherd of Israel, listen!    You, the one who leads Joseph as if he were a sheep.    You, who are enthroned upon the winged heavenly creatures.  Show yourself 2 before Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh!    Wake up your power!    Come to save us!  3 Restore us, God!    Make your face shine so that we can be saved!  4 LORD God of heavenly forces,    how long will you fume against your people’s prayer?  5 You’ve fed them bread made of tears;    you’ve given them tears to drink three times over!  6 You’ve put us at odds with our neighbors;    our enemies make fun of us.  7 Restore us, God of heavenly forces!    Make your face shine so that we can be saved!     My daughter’s birthday is tomorrow. With every candle I thank God for this gift.

For 5 years we waited for a child. Waiting included several tests, a miscarriage, and appointments at the adoption agency. We kept our life full with work, family, friends, and “new” hobbies. We prayed and went to church regularly. I was the youngest member of the women’s group and taught Sunday school. When I was discouraged, encouragement came from family and friends. Through it all, it was my faith in God that was my biggest comfort and strength.

The scripture says God is like a shepherd. From mountain top to valley, He watches over us and will show us what is best for us. Living a life of faithfulness helps us endure suffering with patience and courage, allowing God to strengthen our character for reasons we do not know. Faith bonded with trust helps us know His face will shine down on us and we will be restored. With Faithfulness, Hope, Joy, Peace, and Love with follow.

Reflect: How do you wait for God’s answer to your prayers?         Prayer: Dear Lord, Good Shepherd, teach me how to wait on you. Help me to listen when you whisper in my ear. Fill my heart with love for you and others. AMEN
